Rose Marie Veronesi, 97, Of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Rose Marie Veronesi (née Cerza), 97, of Poughkeepsie, died Nov. 25 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.

She was predeceased by her husband Rocco Veronesi, and her brothers Patrick and Henry Cerza (spouses Antoinette and Margaret), all of Poughkeepsie.

She is survived by her two sons, Angelo “Butch” Veronesi (wife Rita) and Rocco Veronesi (wife Nancy); five grandchildren, Mike Veronesi of Palm Harbor, Fla; Chris Veronesi of Concord, N.C.; Matt Veronesi of Poughkeepsie; Michele Zarrilli (Veronesi) of Marietta, Ga; Jen Young (Veronesi), of Poughkeepsie, and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren with two on the way. She also is survived by her nephew Paul Cerza from Poughkeepsie; niece Christine Delisle (husband Bob) of Tiverton, R.I; and sister-in-law Maryanne Darrow of Cary, N.C. (husband Jerry).

She worked for Central Hudson for a number of years and was the lunch monitor at Poughkeepsie Middle School. Prior to her husband’s death, they also owned Rocky’s Market on South Clover Street in Poughkeepsie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley with the burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
